Date of Service: Wednesday, January 6, 2021

Time of Service: 2:00 PM

HENDERSON-James Renn, Jr., age 78, of 1108 Closs Court, Henderson, NC, died Sunday, January 3, 2021 at his home. Born in Vance County on September 28, 1942, he was the son of the late James Renn and Beatrice Wortham R. Hedgepeth. Mr. Renn retired from the tobacco business after thirty-five years and went on to work in the paving business for another ten years. He was a member of West End Baptist Church and the Christian Fellowship Sunday School Class. Jimmy loved his family, his church family, and he adored his wife, Lou. His sisters-in-law, Nancy and Dianne, brother-in-law, Allen, and friend, Charles, were like his true sisters and brothers. They were always there for him during his battle with Alzheimer’s. He always called his mother and father-in-law, Bessie and Cecil, Ma & Pa. They loved him like a son. There were many friends Jimmy looked up to and considered role models in his church and Sunday school class. He was always grateful to be a part of such a loving, supportive and praying church. He was surrounded by many prayer warriors during his illness. There will be a celebration of Jimmy’s life and home-going on Wednesday, January 6 at 2:00 PM at Elmwood Cemetery with Dr. Scott Hildreth officiating. Surviving in addition to his wife, Betty Lou Aycock Renn is his son, Bryan K. Renn and wife, Kim, of North Myrtle Beach, SC; one niece, Terry G. Orrell of Pfaff-town, NC; two great nieces, Alyson and Amanda Gupton of Pfaff-town, NC; and one great nephew, Chris Orrell of Charlotte, NC. He was preceded in death by his sister, Alma Ann R. Gupton; nephew, David Gupton; and great-nephew, Cameron Orrell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West End Baptist Church, 619 Dabney Drive, Henderson, NC 27536 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
