Bennie Ray Griffin, 91, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2020 after a period of declining health. Born on May 19, 1929 in Nash County, he was the son of the late Ludie Griffin and Lillie Bissette Griffin. Bennie joined the army in 1951 and became a paratrooper at Fort Drum, New York. He was later stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky with the Army 11th Airborne Division. It was there he met the love of his life, Shirley Mays. Upon discharge in 1953, they relocated to Spring Hope and later to Henderson. Bennie was a Supervisor at Harriet and Henderson Mills. He was an avid outdoorsman! He spent many sleepless nights on Bonner Bridge angling for Drum, Sheepheads, Trout and the like. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:30 until 11 at Sunset Gardens. Mr. Griffin will be available for viewing on Monday from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM.
