Charles Lee Harris, 83, a resident of Henderson, died Sunday, December 6, 2020 at his home. Born on April 30, 1937 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Simon Harris and Nellie Caviness Harris, and was the widower of Patricia Difulgo Harris.
Charles served in the National Guard. He was retired from Universal Leaf Tobacco Corporation, where he worked for over 35 years, and was a member of Flat Rock United Methodist Church where he served as Chairman of the Cemetery Committee for many years.
Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 2:00 PM by Dr. Robin Farner.
He is survived by two daughters, Amanda Harris of Henderson and Beverly H. Scott of Erwin; two grandchildren, Lindsay Gay (Matt) and Dylan Jenkins (Allie); three great grandchildren, Owens Gay, Cope Gay and Hailynn Jenkins; and one sister, Joan H. Brame. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Betty H. Parrott.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ray Owens, Bobby Brooks, Curtis Brame, Ray Allen, Joe Difulgo and Harry Ford.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Flat Rock United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Patricia Twisdale, 2560 Satterwhite Point Rd., Henderson. NC 27537.
