Betty H. Parrott
Betty Harris Parrott went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on November 28, 2020 at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Nell Harris, and husband of almost 48 years, Jere, who died in 2006. She is survived by her daughter Patricia Roy (Jim), two grandchildren, Slade and Gigi, of Charlotte, NC and sister Joan Brame and brother Charles Harris, both of Henderson. She was a proud graduate of Middleburg High School and Woman’s College (now UNCG). She worked with the NC Extension Service in Granville County and taught Home Economics at Zeb Vance High School and Vance County High School. She always enjoyed having former students stop and say hello when they saw her around town. Flat Rock Church was a very important part of her life and she was an active member until her health declined. She taught Sunday School for 46 years to young children, was President of the UMW for seven years and held many other church offices. As a mother, she was always very involved with school activities and didn’t miss any basketball, volleyball, or soccer games. She loved UNC basketball, reading, and crafts. She was a doting grandmother to Slade and Gigi and enjoyed spending time doing whatever they wanted to do. A private graveside service is planned due to covid-19. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Flat Rock United Methodist Church C/O Patricia Twisdale, 2560 Satterwhite Point Rd., Henderson, NC 27537 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.
