Dennis McGhinnis

OXFORD- Dennis Wright McGhinnis, 90, of Williamsboro Street, died Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Granville Medical Center. Born in Lunenburg County, Virginia on April 17, 1930 he was the son of the late Doza Wright McGhinnis and Harry McGhinnis. Dennis was a retired Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force. After his military retirement, he worked as a supervisor for Transamerica Modular Home Company and Carl Lawrence Construction. He was a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday School teacher and Superintendent for many years. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Dennis is survived by his wife, Barbara Kittrell McGhinnis of the home; his son, David Willis McGhinnis and wife, Loren of Glencoe, AL; his daughter, Anita McGhinnis Sharpe and husband, Tim, of Raleigh; two grandchildren, Carey Meadows and husband Taylor, and Jason McGhinnis and wife, Chelsea; and three great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Genevive McGhinnis Wilson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rehoboth United Methodist Church, 2975 Old Watkins Rd. Henderson, NC, 27537. The family appreciates sympathy expressed through phone calls and cards and kindly asks that there be no visitors to the home at this time.
