HENDERSON- Richard Douglas Earls, age 74, of South Lake Lodge Road, died Monday, August 24, 2020 at his home. Born in Richlands, Virginia on June 9, 1946, he was the son of the late Thomas Dudley Earls and Frances Mastrello Eagen. Richard was a Veteran of the United States Navy Seabees and was a member of the American Legion. He was the owner and operator of the former Earls Service Center, partnered with his father in a previous ownership of Sunset Gardens Cemetery and most recently retired from Lowe’s Home Improvement where he worked as a sales associate. He enjoyed telling jokes and spending time with family and friends. Richard’s persona will be truly missed by everyone that knew him. A celebration of life with military honors will be held Sunday, August 30, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of J.M. White Funeral Home by Rev. Wilbur Horton, Rev. Frank Sossamon, Rev. Ricky Easter and Rev. Wayne Gardner. A private interment will be held at a later date at the Earls Family Cemetery in Virginia. Richard is survived by his wife, Jaimye Earls of the home; two daughters, Toni Sanford and husband Curtis of Henderson and Tracy Dean of Laguna Beach, CA; two grandchildren, Jonathon Kyle Lawson and Jennifer Spain and husband T.J.; three great grandchildren, Madison, Jameson, and Kaitlyn; a brother, Keith Earls of Wells, Maine; and nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Paula and Annette of Community Home Care and Hospice for the care they showed Richard. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM at J.M. White Funeral Home and at other times at the home. Masks and social distancing are required for attendees of both the service and visitation at J.M. White Funeral Home.
