WAKE FOREST- Elizabeth Bruin Christopher, 87, of Welsh Tavern Way, was surrounded by her family when she went to heaven to be with her soulmate on Saturday, February, 29, 2020 at UNC Rex. Born November 28, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Bruin. Libby attended Henderson High School and graduated from Peace College and the College of William and Mary. Libby served her community in various capacities. She was a teacher in Virginia and the driving force of the implementation of the exceptional children’s services of Vance County Schools. She was the President of the Hospital Guild for Maria Parham Hospital for many years and drove for the Meals on Wheels Program. She volunteered at ACTS to care for God’s children. Libby was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Henderson serving as Elder and a long term beloved Sunday School teacher. Libby was a homemaker and cared for her family/Libby was an incredible mom who always put her husband and children first. She had a beautiful life and in doing so made this world a better place. Mrs. Christopher is survived by three sons, Leon Harding Christopher, II (Angela) of Raleigh and his children, John Vernon Christopher and Alexis Christopher Buchanan (Andrew); Ralph Cannon Christopher of Wake Forest and his daughter, Allyson Christopher Corvin (Mark); Stephen Scott Christopher (Lisa) of Boydton, VA and his daughter Shirley Elizabeth Christopher (Charlie); and a daughter, Marylaura Christopher McKoon of Henderson and her sons, Thomas William McKoon and Todd Christopher McKoon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Harding Christopher, Sr.; a grandson, Leon Harding Christopher, III (Julie) and two sisters, Anna B. Gerber and Ware B. Blaimire. The family will receive friends at a visitation Friday, March 6, 2020 at J.M. White Funeral Home from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM. There will be a private burial in Wicomico Church, Virginia where she will be placed beside her true love on a later date. In lieu of flowers please donate to ACTS of Henderson or pet adoptions at any chosen animal shelter.
