HENDERSON-Darrel Bruce Greene, 69, a resident of 69 Ryans Way Lane, died on Friday, September 20, 2019 at his home. Born on June 16, 1950 in Moore, Texas he was the son of the late Harold Calvin Greene and Florence Dubose Greene. Darrel proudly served in the United States Army, serving in Vietnam from 1968 until 1972 in the Army Security Agency as an Army Specialist for the 101st Airborne. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was retired from Pitt Memorial Hospital where he was a Rehab Specialist, and was a member of the Tar River Cowboy Church in Louisburg. Funeral services will be held Monday night at 7:30 PM at J. M. White Funeral Home by the Rev. Will Breedlove. Burial with full Military Honors will be held Tuesday at 1:00 PM in the Salisbury National Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Linda Kittrell Greene of the home; four daughters, Kini G. Heyl (Steve) of Louisburg, Gina G. Poteat (Tony) of Henderson, Rachel G. Poteat of Franklinton, and Katie G. Clark (Daniel) of Youngsville; one son, Darrel Bruce Greene, II (Rebecca) of Louisburg; one sister, Joyce Elaine Greene Harrell of Greenville; two brothers, Stanley Miles Greene of Brevard, and Gary Greene of Greenville; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday night prior to the service from 6 until 7:30 PM at J. M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Maria Parham Health Cancer Center for needy patients, 566 Ruin Creek Road, Henderson, NC 27536.
