On Saturday, October 6, 2018, Charles Davis Medlin, beloved husband and father, passed away suddenly at 51 years old. Charles was born on June 23, 1967 to the late Gene Medlin and the late Joan Pope, in Vance County. He graduated from Warren County High School in 1986. When he was in high school he volunteered at the Norlina Fire Department with his father Gene Medlin. He went on to enlist in the United States Army where he served for ten years. On August 22, 1987 he married Elaine Neal Medlin of Henderson, and they spent 31 years in love. They raised three children, Christian Elaine Medlin Wirtz (Brandon) of Henderson, Charles Ryan Medlin of Henderson, and Brian Kristopher Neal (Ruby) of Raleigh. He had a passion for helping people - he volunteered at Bearpond fire department in Henderson for many years when he was younger. He also went on to serve as a paramedic with Warren County EMS. He was an assistant manager at Wal-Mart in Henderson for many years, the general manager at the Cruizers in Henderson for many years, and then went on to be the dairy associate at the Food Lion in Oxford. He was a long-time member at Harriett Baptist Church, where he served in many positions over the years. He had a fierce love for his wife, Elaine, his children, Christian, Ryan, and Brian, his grandchildren, Taylin Nicole, Gabriel Alexander, Nikola Charles, and Elliot Gregory. He was preceded in death by his father Gene Davis Medlin, his mother Joan Vaughn Pope, and his step-mother Elizabeth Hill Yates. He is survived by his wife Elaine Neal Medlin, his children, Christian Elaine Medlin Wirtz, Charles Ryan Medlin, and Brian Kristopher Neal, his grandchildren Taylin, Gabriel, Nikola, and Elliot, his brother Waylon Gene Medlin (Joanne), his nephews Brandon Medlin, Gene Medlin, and Jason Medlin. He will be missed by many friends and family members as he had a major impact on all of our lives and his community. He never met a stranger. He has gone on to help many others in death by being an organ donor. The family will have a memorial service on Saturday, October 13, at 3:00 at Harriett Baptist Church on Ruin Creek Rd. They will receive friends at the church from 2:00 on. At all other times the family is at the home at 1816 S. Clearview Dr in Henderson.
