HENDERSON- Mr. Donald "Gray" Faulkner, Sr., 91, departed for his heavenly home Monday, August 20, 2018. Born February 2, 1927, he was a native of Vance County and long-time resident of Henderson, NC. He was the son of the late Marvin Edgar Faulkner and Lillian Minor Faulkner and a graduate of Charles B Aycock High School. Also preceding him in death were his wife of 39 years, Betty Jean Thomas Faulkner; a daughter, Janice Faulkner Sharp; and three brothers, Edgar, James and Ronald Faulkner. Remaining to cherish his memory are his second wife, Rebecca Brooks Faulkner; daughter, Pamela Faulkner Jones (Craig) of Cleveland; his son, Donald Gray Faulkner, Jr. (Andrea) of Henderson; ten grandchildren: Meghann Moore (Jay), Steven Craig Jones (Katie), Merri Gray Jones (Chris), Leah Kathryn Jones), Donald Gray Faulkner, III (Kacey), Merab Faulkner Puleo (Justin), Cole Thomas Faulkner (Rosa), Samuel Andrew Faulkner, Charles Chas Edward Sharp, III and Hunter Gray Sharp; and 14 great grandchildren. Mr. Faulkners career was that of a farmer, a licensed electrical contractor with the State of North Carolina and owner of his own electrical contracting business. His service with Farm Bureau was at the county, state and national levels, including Vice President of NC Farm Bureau. He was a long-standing member of the Board of Directors with the Southern Farm Bureau Insurance Company. Additionally, he served on the planning board for the town of Henderson. He was also a past president and an active member of the Henderson Kiwanis Club and a member of the First Baptist Church of Henderson where he was a long-serving deacon. Truly he was a man with a servants heart who never met a stranger resulting in the love and affection of everyone who knew him throughout his entire life. A memorial service to honor his life will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 23rd at First Baptist Church in Henderson, NC officiated by Dr. Marion Lark and Minister Ron Cava. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the R. Flake Scholarship Fund of the North Carolina Farm Bureau to be sent to 5301 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612.
