Claude Robert "Junie" Clark, Jr., 71, a resident of Dabney Road, died on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at his home. Born in Vance County on March 10, 1947, he was the son of the late Claude Robert Pete Clark, Sr. and Lila Hester Clark. Junie graduated from Dabney School and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He was retired from the Henderson YMCA and was a member of Poplar Creek Baptist Church where he served as an usher and was a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 am at Poplar Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Wayne Clark and the Rev. Tony Evans. A private burial will be held by the family at a later date. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nell Rose Sanford Clark of the home; two sons, Wayne Clark (LuAnne) of Oxford, and Scott Clark (Kim) of Henderson; one daughter, Cindy Hicks (Mike) of Henderson; and two grandchildren, Emily Clark Russell (Douglas) of Boydton, Virginia and Dawson Hicks of Henderson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Kenneth "Skeeter" Clark. The family will greet guests following the service in the Popular Creek Baptist Church Family Life Center. At other times they will be at the home. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Adult Sunday Class. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Poplar Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 1371 Poplar Creek Road, Henderson, NC 27537. Daddy was a country boy, please come casual.
