Charlene Jensen Hanford, 82, a resident of 69 Dabney Woods Dr., died Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at Duke Regional Hospital. Born on March 12, 1935 in Brainerd, Minnesota, she was the daughter of the late Ira Jensen and Sue Stanton Griffin. Charlene was a member of Fuller Chapel Christian Church. She was the co-founder and President of the Vance County Association of Retarded Citizens, and was a former Human Resource Manager for K Mart. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 pm at Fuller Chapel Christian Church by the Rev. Tammy Ayscue. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens. She is survived by her husband, Robert Alton Hanford, Sr. of the home; two sons, Robbie Hanford (Darlene) of Henderson and Scott Hanford (Stephanie) of Oxford; two sisters, Dolores J. Grissom of Kittrell and Betty J. Grissom of Henderson; one brother, Johnny Griffin of Wilson; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one great great grandson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Nelson J. Hanford; and one sister, Loretta J. Bowes. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6:30 until 8:30 at the home of Robbie and Darlene Hanford at 1543 Ruin Creek Road. Serving as active pall bearers will be Brandon Hanford, Timmy Hanford, Joey Hanford, Tyler Eatmon, Al Grissom, Herbie Grissom, and Tony Grissom. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Fuller Chapel Christian Church, c/o Christy Pulley, 771 Edwards Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
